The artist is very inspired by Joan Mitchell.  One of the colors Joan Uses is Purple.  So, the artist used that as her inspiration to play with purple while adding blacks and then splashes of yellow.  The contract of purple is yellow and therefore adds incredible excitement to the painting.  She feels while that painting would be beautiful in a bedroom, it would go so well in a strong persons office where they are reminded of their strengths and yet moments of yellow softness.
