The Emotional Bond in Every Brushstroke: Why Collectors Say They Connect with My Artwork ... WHY my ART?

When selecting artwork for your home, the decision to invest your money creates this deeply personal, emotional connection that seems to create a bond with the painting and our emotions.  There are so many paintings that are aesthetically pleasing and to choice from, so why would one painting resonant over another?  I have asked so often why my collectors choose my artwork, what makes my work stand out when they can chose another artist’s work?

12" x 12" "Scar Within"

Here’s what I have heard from my collectors why my painting was bought over perhaps another artists work. I write this in hopes that is enlightens my readers, both collectors and other artists!!

1. Felt Emotional Depth and Authenticity

“I felt when I connected with the painting I bought from you, more than just visual connection, I honestly felt like I was experiencing a part of your inner world.”

“Your passion became mine as I looked at your painting and I knew I had to have it in my world.”

“Every time I walk past your painting in my home, I feel it speaking to me.”

I have asked myself what I can do to recreate this in my artwork. I so much want my collectors to truly feel my soul and passion in my work. First, I learned to be true to my style that I have developed. This journey has taught me the importance of creating from within, focusing on what I genuinely feel rather than trying to please others. The connection I have with my painting must be present throughout the entire process, from the initial inspiration to the final brushstroke. It’s this bond that infuses my work with authenticity and emotional depth, making it more than just a visual experience but a heartfelt expression of my inner world, deep from my soul.

By staying true to my artistic path, I ensure that each piece carries a piece of my soul, allowing those who engage with my work to feel the passion, struggle, and joy that went into its creation. This authenticity not only strengthens my bond with the painting itself but also creates a deeper, more meaningful connection with those who choose to bring my art into their lives. It’s this shared experience—this mutual understanding of emotion and expression—that I strive to cultivate in every piece, ensuring that my collectors don’t just see my work, but feel it.  This is truly my ultimate goal.

As I learned my style, I found I love highly textured surfaces and dynamic marks in my work because they tell a story of introspection, passion, and emotional complexity. Collectors who choose my art often find themselves drawn to this raw authenticity, sensing the depth of feeling and the narrative behind each piece. My work is created from a place of introspection and honesty, making it resonate with those who seek art that is not only visually engaging but also emotionally profound.

2. My Connection to the Creative Process

For me, the creative process is almost meditative—a journey that brings peace and fulfillment. This depth I feel is not just a part of creation but an intrinsic part of the art itself. When a collector connects with one of my paintings, they are not just acquiring a piece of art; they are inviting a part of my soul into their space. The energy within in each brushstroke and texture is something that many collectors feel and appreciate on a deeply personal level.

3. My Intuitive and Passionate Creation

I often paint with my hands, embracing an intuitive and passionate approach that allows my work to flow directly from the subconscious to the canvas. This method of creation results in pieces that are spontaneous, visceral, and charged with emotion. For collectors, this means owning a piece that is unique, one that captures a moment of pure, unfiltered expression. This kind of creation ensures that no two paintings are ever alike, each one holding a distinctive energy and presence.

4. Signature Style and Techniques

My art is not just about a particular subject matter or the colors I use; it’s about the techniques and style I have developed over years in my journey my dedication to my personal journey. My signature style is a culmination of learning, experimenting, and perfecting various artistic techniques, which give my paintings their unique look and feel. I incorporate signature marks, handmade unique papers, and repeated mediums.

When a collector chooses my work, they are choosing a piece of art that stands out for its originality and craftsmanship, a testament to my journey as an abstract artist.

5. A Story of Growth and Discovery

Each of my paintings is a chapter in the story of my evolution as an artist. Collectors who choose my work are often those who appreciate not just the art but the story behind it—the story of finding my voice, developing my style, and continuously pushing the boundaries of my creative expression. My paintings are a reflection of this ongoing journey, offering a narrative that resonates with those who value growth, learning, and self-discovery.

In conclusion, choosing my paintings is about more than just finding a beautiful piece of art—it’s about connecting with a deeper story, appreciating the unique creative process, and inviting a piece of my artistic journey into their life. For those who value authenticity, emotional depth, and a strong sense of personal connection in art, my work offers something truly special and a part of my soul into their homes.
